AUDITIONS ARE OPPORTUNITIES
that take place on ZOOM or SELF-TAPE. Self-Tapes are created by the parent with their child. I teach parents how to make Self-Taped Auditions with correct formats, size, and labels or agents and directors will not look at the tape. In auditions you use your imagination, play characters you love and gain acting experience. If you perform with confidence and creativity TV/Film directors and casting directors will cast you. These skills can also lead to becoming leaders at school such as class presidents. Actors who get cast are wise to continue to study acting to be ready for that next audition.
MEMORABLE FEEDBACK FROM A PARENT and STUDENT
“I liked getting feedback from my classmates and coach about my performance on Zoom. I took notes to remember what they said to help me in future. I liked watching everyone perform. Zoom made that easy and I learned skills on Zoom.”
Audry, Age 13
“Thank you for advocating for my teenage daughter and representing her interests. We are so appreciative and thankful for your kindness. Your support has been invaluable.”
S. Creed, North Bay, CA
“My daughter, Emerson, age 10, has learned so much and has fun in your zoom classes. You are always looking out for her and helping her get auditions. The way you reach out on her behalf means so much! I am so grateful that you are in our lives! Thank you!”
Mrs. Keenen, South Bay, Atherton, CA
“Hi Judy. My two boys, age 11 and 15, loved all your classes on zoom and in-person in spring, summer and fall 2022. They couldn’t stop talking about it after the first class. They gave each other feedback. I enjoyed joining the last 30 min. of class when the students demonstrated what they learned in a live performance. The evaluations you emailed after every class gave me insight and were valuable. They had fun and learned a lot in your zoom and in person classes. We plan to see you again”
Mrs. Howell, Oakland CA
ABOUT OUR WORKSHOP CURRICULUM
on ZOOM and IN-PERSON YEAR-ROUND
WHY OUR ZOOM CLASSES ARE SUCCESSFUL AND FUN
Students interact and share their voice. They learn to perform and focus to their computer screen similar to focusing on camera when they are at the job on a set. Enrollment is limited to 6-12 students to allow for more attention. Scripts are emailed early to practice before class. Auditioning from a home studio on zoom is the new normal! Parents received evaluations following workshops. We feature one or two Sat. and/or Sun. one day workshops with new topics each month for 60, 90 min. to 2 hours.
WORKSHOPS TOPICS INCLUDE
TV commercials, voiceover, film acting, comedy, monologues, improvisation, interview skills, comedic or dramatic acting for film. Acting Tones for Disney TV/Film will return as it sold out last year.
WE TEACH PARENTS HOW TO create Self-Tape Auditions from home
on cell phone or digital cameras. Self-Tapes are the new norm as auditions in person are rare. We teach how to create Self Tapes on Zoom 3 times annually with correct formats and printed guidelines.
WORKSHOPS DETAILS & HOW TO PAY
are on our home page and separate workshop pages. Enroll on our check-out form by adding a workshop to a cart; fill out form with parent and student information and see the link to pay via PayPal. To PAY an alternative way email us at info@kids-on-camera.com
OUR TEACHING METHODS & TIPS
We created a quality training with very experienced and talented coaches to develop creativity and confidence. We teach acting and audition skills for TV/Film, improv, comedic and dramatic acting and voiceover. Getting cast depends upon the ability to listen, take direction, and understand the audition process. Students learn how to set up a home studio. They may go into breakout rooms to practice a script with a partner. Students explore different topics with experienced casting and film directors and talent managers.

STUDENTS GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY WITH and MEET TALENT AGENTS, CASTING DIRECTORS, TALENT MANAGERS, TV/FILM DIRECTORS, and VERY EXPERIENCED COACHES
We have a working relationship with TV and film directors, and talent agents.
They encourage actors to learn the skills that our programs provide. After we experience students in our workshops, we help parents learn how to submit and meet talent agents. Agents receive up to 30 submissions monthly from new talent seeking interviews and representation. Filmmakers have called us in search of talent for stage, TV/film. We have been a resource for talent at KRON TV Ch 4, the Academy of Art Univ. SF State U, and San Francisco and Berkeley Digital Film School for their graduate films.
WE ARE ALWAYS SEARCHING
for new ways to enhance our student’s skills and help them get exposure to top coaches, casting directors and talent agents. The curriculum prepares youngsters for real world auditions. Hear it straight from the pros as they have a pulse on today’s market. Our coaches educate our parents about the industry.
DIRECTORS and our STAFF FOLLOW HEALTH GUIDELINES TO KEEP ACTORS SAFE.
Performing and auditioning on zoom and self-tapes will remain popular.
POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM A LOCAL TALENT AGENT
We want to share a letter we received from a talent agent.
Dear Judy, I want you know that your young actors and parents are easy to work with for the most part. We thank you for helping us manage their expectations upon interviewing with us. It certainly makes a big difference! It’s nice to interview youngsters with real training and meet parents who truly understand the long-term investment they are making in their child as it’s a two-way street. As a talent agent we can only do so much and we really do appreciate parents who are willing to meet us halfway.

TIPS & QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR CHILD TO ENHANCE YOUR RELATIONSHIP & THEIR MENTAL HEALTH
Our programs encourage children to use their imaginations which helps maintain and improve their mental health. Our tips below will Increase your child’s self-awareness, maintain mental health and keep communication open and boost their moods
TIPS for PARENTS: DUE TO EXPERIENCES FAMILIES HAVE HAD SINCE 2020 with our HEALTH CRISIS, ASK CHILDREN THESE QUESTIONS MORE OFTEN NOW:
-How do you feel rather than asking them how their grades are at school
-How are you sleeping? How are your eating habits.
-Do you want to re-design your bedroom or workspace with art or a plant?
-How is your communication with your siblings, friends nearby and at school?
-What do you like watching on TV?
-Do you feel safe at school?
-Do you understand why you wear a mask at some events?
-What do you want to do on weekends with family or friends?
MORE TIPS FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE HOME SCHOOLED or ATTEND SCHOOL
Before school starts go outside and feel the sunshine and the grass with your bare feet. If your child works remotely from home arrange workspaces near a window to look out at nature. Add color or calendar with photos of animals or nature and a small plant in their workspace. Post their original art. Take a break for music or a walk. Water is calming and uplifts moods so add swimming, soaking in a bathtub, and more showers. For anxiety crunching on carrots or chewing gum can help. Oversee what children watch on the internet and avoid the TV News. To take dislike of wearing masks discuss how masks protect us from germs so we stay healthy with have fewer colds. Create an art activity decorating masks with stickers. Make a mask for their stuffed animals and dolls.
MEMORABLE MESSAGE TO GIVE US ALL HOPE IF A HEALTH CRISIS RETURNS
Belgium Psychotherapist Ester Perel shared valuable insights in a National TV interview on Amanpour & Co in 2020 and Jan. 2024. She has a Pod Cast.
Journalist, Christine Amanpour asked Ms. Perel:
“Do we have permission to feel happy in the midst of a crisis?”
Ms Perel said:
“Being confined 2020-2021 was a challenging time. Our minds traveled and our Imaginations soared. We need to allow ourselves to feel hopeful that there is a ray of light shining through the crack. NOW it is wise to limit the time your child works at a computer. Get out and be social – join classes – use our imaginations thru improv – tell stories – sing. Using our imaginations will keep us alive and resilient.”
