ABOUT DEBORAH ELIEZER, ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR.  For over 25 years she has coached acting for TV/Film and stage, improv, voiceover and dance. She is passionate to develop acting skills in her students, improve their personal expression and makes learning fun. As a pro voiceover she voiced over 25 Leapfrog Toys TV Commercials; Nickelodeon TV commercial, Dora the Explorer and video games for Monopoly and Godfather. Performances include Marin Shakespeare Co, Olivia cruise ships, Antenna Theatre. An arts advocate and Founder/Artistic Director of Aviva Arts. (Scroll down for more or see staff page).

ABOUT JUDY BERLIN, DIRECTOR/FOUNDER. Judy created No. California’s first TV/Film Acting and Voiceover School for ages 5-18 in 1981. Judy was a voiceover on SESAME STREET for 12 years. She trained young actors cast in Disney Films and an Emmy Award winner.  Adam MacArthur was nominated for best voiceover award for ANIME ANIMATED SERIES in 2022. (Full bio on staff page)

 

OUR CURRICULUM WILL FOCUS ON

-Learning to interact in a dialogues
-Performing and sustaining energy and expression
-Learning to add texture and nuances to script readings
-Taking direction, improving timing and making-adjustments
-Developing imagination, taking risks and trusting instincts
-Evaluations emailed within 7-14 days after class

WHAT IS IMPROVISATION & IT’S VALUE

-Improvisation or “Improv” is when a performance is created on-the-spot, without preparation. It develops imaginations and trust in instincts.
-Improves listening, creativity, making strong choices and confidence.
-As improv skills grow, so does the ability to take risks in new situations and worry less about what others think. 

ABOUT OUR LOCATION San Francisco in Presidio Heights.

Jewish Community Center. 3200 California. Free street meters on Sunday & indoor parking fees from $3 hr.  Two to four blocks to Target, Peets Coffee, Starbucks, Cal Market, Trader Joes, Best Buy and restaurants.  

 

HOMEWORK:

Age appropriate dialogues are emailed 6 days before to practice aloud 6 times before May 18. Instructions are emailed as students create a 30 second story about themselves to bring to class.

STORYTELLING HOMEWORK INSTRUCTIONS and FUN

STORYTELLING STARTERS:

-Choose ONE story starter from list below 1-3 to create a story from your real life for 30 secs.  Practice aloud 3 times.
-Use 2-3 specific details and use “I” statements. NO need to memorize.
-A real-life story can change a little each time you tell it.

Personal Characteristics: Say each line and finish the sentence.

3-School Moment: I’ll never forget that time at school when…

ABOUT OUR LARGE COMFORTABLE SAFE CLASSROOM:

ABOUT DEBORAH

Debórah Eliezer, Kids on Camera Assoc. Director on staff 18 years, helped develop our acting and voiceover programs. Debórah has voiced hundreds of 1-800 As Seen on TV Products. Recently she created world premiere of Burning Wild, an outdoor audio/live performance and documentary about the Calif. wildfires. Debórah starred in the short film Wresting Place, written and directed by Coral Cohen. In 2021 she was selected for a theater residency at the esteemed Berkeley Repertory Theatre Ground Floor program. Theater credits include premieres in San Francisco, NYC, and Cairo. For 20 yrs she was Artistic Director of the award-winning foolsFURY Theater Co. A San Francisco native, she holds a B.A. Cum Laude from San Francisco State U. Deborah is a Certified Sound, Voice Movement Healing Arts Practitioner from Calif Institute of Integral Studies and a certified yoga teacher.
